I f our point of arrival is the Austrian-Hungarian Trieste (50km from Grado), with its elegant buildings which are reminiscent of Vienna, why not at least take one of the most beautiful coastal routes of Italy (SS 14)? This, prior to arriving in Trieste, one first passes Duino with its castles and then Sistaina with its lovely coastal fishing town, and then passes nearby the fabulous castle of Miramare, constructed around 1860 by the Archduke Maximilian of Hapsburg. This visit is practically obligatory for every traveller of this route.
