T he Collio Wine Route starts near Gorizia, crossing a marvellous hilly zone known for its excellent production of D.O.C. wines; the nature of the terrain, its protected position from the cold of the north and the heat of the south from the neighbouring Adriatic, has provided from a particularly wonderful zone for the production of excellent wines, from the most esteemed and sought after of the world. The Wine Route could be half of a relaxing gastronomic tour which ends near Cividale, a medieval city with Longobard origins, with a splendid historic centre and interesting museums.
