With Roman origins, Strassoldo was born at the crossroads between the two important routes of the period, the Via Julia Augusta which runs North to South for commerce with the Teutonic people, and the important Postumia street which runs from Italy to the eastern countries.
The town is the residence of the family of the counts of Strassoldo from which the town takes its name, or perhaps vice-versa? Today it is still preserved as a jewel of the medieval age, with its two castles, three churches and an ancient mill, it certainly merits a visit even if it is just a quick visit.
